Real Unreality?

Postby GAZ » Mon Oct 26, 2009 6:43 pm

I have often wondered what the significance of dreams are, the fact that animals also seem to dream. Why is the phenomenon of dreams store in our memory as if they have actually happened? Do they store in the same area of memory as the "normal" waking state?

Comments, thoughts, muses please :-)

Hi Gaz,

It all depends on who you are as to the meaning of the purpose of dreams. Some scientists will tell you that dreams are simply a way for your brain to sort and sift through everything your brain has ingested during the day. Others would say that dreams are your subconscious mind sorting through things that are worrying you. Others may have other explanations................ there are many I'm sure.

However, I think dreams have various meanings, but these thoughts are based on my own personal experiences. I have nightmares that always seem to have some kind of 'message' for me, albeit they are often obscure and the meanings are sometimes 'delayed' in becoming clear. Others are definate premonition dreams. Trouble is, I only know they premonitions when they come true. :? Then there are just the weird, oo-errr type dreams that I haven't got a clue what they are! :D They don't tie in with any category that the experts talk about.

Try reading through some of my dreams in the dream thread. I have had soe really obscure ones lately that I haven't posted.............. although maybe I should have? :)

hi you guys

Dreams and what are they :?: :?: :?: :?: I have to agree with what Cherill says, a lot depends on who you are talking to at the time as to what a dream is. Your brain sifting information hhhmmmmm could by but that doesn't explain why babies(and animals) also dream. my opinion is that you can only sift information if you know what you are sifting or else how would you know what is useful and what isnt :D :D . Unfortunately premonition type dreams seem to be very symbolic and cryptic(one has to ask why they are like this) :? :? :? Another thought is that some dreams could be resurfacing memories of former lives which could be why some although understandable don't make any sense(again sitfing of info)

As to your question where is the dream store I have no idea other than a guess that it must be in the subconcious otherwise our waking lives would be inundated with weird cryptic thoughts

Hopefully a few more bones for you to chew on :D :D
